Enjoy Safe Overnight Stays in Lancaster County
September 17, 2020As the number of coronavirus cases steadily declines, people are starting to travel again. It’s exciting to know Lancaster County tourism continues to emerge from COVID-19 and visitors from surrounding counties and states are once again discovering the beauty of Amish Country.
People are ready to shed their cabin fever: Families coming to Lancaster for the Amish experience or to see shows at American Music Theater or Sight & Sound, couples looking for a romantic getaway, outdoor enthusiasts exploring nearby hiking and biking trails, and so many others.
Some folks are so ready to venture away from home that they’ve created a new way to travel: Bikepacking. It’s a mix between camping, biking, and backpacking, with a sub-niche called “credit card bikepacking” for those who carry their belongings but, instead of roughing it at a campsite, they stay in hotels and eat at restaurants.
We welcome them all! Even better, the safety precautions we’ve taken — and continue to take — to mitigate the risks of COVID-19 could make an overnight stay at AmishView Inn even safer than that backyard barbecue your neighborhood planned.
It’s OK to Take that Roadtrip
While our award-winning hotel staff and those at other local venues follow CDC recommendations and government guidelines to ensure the safety of guests, we feel confident that Lancaster County is the ideal post-quarantine destination. There’s a reason why we’re ranked the best hotel in Lancaster County by TripAdvisor. Actually, there are many reasons.
Here are just some of the many precautions our hotel is taking to make sure our guests enjoy an affordable boutique-inn experience, confident that their overnight stay in Amish Country is just as safe, if not more, than a backyard barbecue.
- Staff undergoes a comprehensive training program that includes detailed information about the coronavirus and how to control its spread. Our entire staff is required to participate in this two-hour training program before returning to work
- Masks are always worn by staff. You’ll still get the exceptional customer service that keeps repeat guests coming back to us each year, but you’ll have to look at the smiles in our eyes for now.
- Guests are required to wear masks (except when seated to eat in our Great Room)
- Staff and guests are maintaining safe social distances, 6 feet between you and other guests/staff.
- We remind guests to frequently wash hands; staff is required to do so.
- Hand sanitizer and gloves are available throughout the hotel for any guests who wish to use them.

Meet Katie G., General Manager
August 31, 2020
What is your most memorable AmishView guest moment or interaction?
“A few summers ago, on a hot and super humid August morning, I was assisting our breakfast team with cleaning tables and delivering dirty dishes to the kitchen. It was a very busy day and I was hustling. A frequent guest of ours greeted me and we took a few minutes to connect. As we were parting ways, she opened her arms to give me a hug. Thanks to the high humidity, I was not presenting the façade of a serene and orderly general manager. Instead, rivulets of sweat were running down my temples. I was hot and sticky and my curls were becoming wild. I protested that I was not in an ideal condition for a hug. She waived my protests aside and gave me a hug saying that it was just so nice to see me and added compliments about the team. The gracious love from that action and the accompanying comments filled my heart and renewed my energy.”
What do you like most about working for AmishView?
“My responsibilities have changed over the years and regardless of the roles, the people are what make this job so enjoyable. Interacting with our guests, getting to know them and learning their stories is a treat. I am also privileged to work alongside some amazing people each day. Watching them grow and meld into a strong, supportive team is very rewarding.”
What do you think sets AmishView apart from other hotels?
“Our team dynamics: There is a deep-rooted sense of genuine caring and looking out for our guests’ needs and expectations. This sentiment is also continued between our fellow co-workers and teammates in their interpersonal relationships with each other. Our team knows that it takes every one of us to play a part. Having confidence that we are supported by those we work with allows the team to deliver an outstanding guest experience.”
Is there something special, unique or interesting you’d like our guests to know about you?
“I was a Studio Art major in college, little realizing how much hospitality was a natural fit for me. I suspect my parents were not surprised by my realization in the years following graduation. Working at AmishView was my first non-art related job and the first time working at a hotel.”
Meet Melissa H.
August 30, 2020
What is your most memorable AmishView guest moment or interaction?

What do you like most about working for AmishView?
“My team. Things haven’t always been easy, but the ladies I work with are amazing and make coming to work a positive and happy experience.”
What do you think sets AmishView apart from other hotels?
“I think it comes down to our customer service. Guests love when you take the time to talk and give suggestions.”

Meet Amber S.
August 29, 2020What is your most memorable AmishView guest moment or interaction?
“There have been many positive memorable guest interactions over the years, but one that first comes to mind is a woman who stayed with us a year or two ago who was awake very early reading in the Great Room. She shared some personal stories and gave some encouraging words from her experiences and I appreciated the conversation we shared.”
What do you like most about working for AmishView?
“I like the relationships that grow between us and the guests as they continue to return and we get to know each other better.”
What do you think sets AmishView apart from other hotels?
“I think our guests appreciate the measures we take to try and give them the best experience and care we can to make them feel comfortable and relaxed away from their daily life.”
Is there something special, unique or interesting you’d like our guests to know about you?
“This July marked 15 years that I worked at AmishView. The first two years I worked as a housekeeper and I’ve been working Night Audit for the past 13 years.”
Thank you for sharing, Amber, and for helping us to earn this outstanding achievement on TripAdvisor.
