  • Lancaster Airport (LNS): ~10 miles (20-25 mins). Best for regional or private flights. Served by Breeze Airways and Southern Airways. Most major car rentals are available including Avis, Budget, Enterprise and National.
  • Harrisburg International Airport (MDT): ~40 miles (45-50 mins). The closest major commercial airport offering a less stressful experience than the large airports with shorter lines, smaller crowds, and shorter drive to Lancaster County.
  • Philadelphia International Airport (PHL): ~65 miles (1.5 hours). Best for a wide range of domestic and international flights. Easy to get to Amtrak station via SEPTA station right at the airport.
  • Baltimore/Washington International (BWI): ~85 miles (1 hour 45 mins). Often a great alternative with competitive fares.

What is the best way to travel by train?

Note the Lancaster Amtrak Station (LNC) is just 8 miles (about 15-20 mins) from the Inn! Rental cars are available from the Lancaster Amtrak Station.

  • From NYC (Penn Station/Moynihan): Take the Keystone Service. It is a direct, scenic ride taking roughly 2.5 to 3 hours.
  • From Philadelphia (30th St Station): A quick 1-hour direct ride on the Keystone Service.
  • From DC / Baltimore: Take the Northeast Regional to Philadelphia and transfer to the Keystone Service. Total travel time is approx. 3 hours.
  • From Newark (EWR): You can take Amtrak directly from the Newark Airport station to Lancaster with a quick transfer in Philadelphia.

How do I get from the Lancaster Amtrak Station to the Inn?

We recommend using Uber, Lyft, or a local taxi service if you don’t plan on renting a car. The ride is typically under 20 minutes.

Do I need a car once I arrive?

While we are located on the Plain & Fancy Farm with many attractions on-site (buggy rides, theater, and dining), a car is highly recommended to fully explore the wider Lancaster area, including nearby Intercourse and Lititz.

Are there electric vehicle (EV) charging stations available?

How far are you from Sight & Sound Theatre, American Music Theatre, Strasburg Rail Road & Trains, and Dutch Wonderland?

Pro-Tip for Guests:

If you are traveling from Newark International or NYC, the train is often more relaxing than NYC traffic. However, if you plan on visiting the many farmers’ markets and antique shops in Lancaster County, having your own vehicle is best for hauling home your local finds!  We also recommend a car if you are trying to visit all the various heritage sites in the Northeast for the 250th! There are so many great heritage stops just here in Lancaster. Plus, Lancaster is near so many other great America 250th stops from Philly, Boston, Washington, DC., Gettysburg (American Civil War), Valley Forge (American Revolution).

Coming for the FIFA World Cup Games and Fan Fest?

Lancaster is within a 1.5 to 2 hours from Lincoln Financial Field (Philadelphia, PA); and Lemon Hill in East Fairmount (Philly Fan Festival). You can drive to these Philadelphia World Cup locations or take the rails (Amtrak & SEPTA). Plus, AmishView is an easy drive from Metlife Stadium (NY/NJ East Rutherford, NY); Liberty State Park, NJ (FIFA Fan Festival™ NYNJ); Queens NY (NYNJ World Cup 26 Fan Zone Queens); Rockefeller Center, Manhattan (NY/NJ World Cup 26 & Telemundo Fan Village); and Gillette Stadium (Boston, MA).
