Lantern Light Tour of The Amish Country Homestead (6 PM-7:10 PM)
The Amish Country Homestead is a reflection of our commitment to accurately and sensitively portray the Amish as they live and work in today's world. Unlike the regular homestead tours, this will be an exclusive tour through the nine rooms by lantern light, since the Amish live without electricity. With your knowledgeable host, you will learn about Amish dating and wedding customs, and we will “marry” two people from the group using the Amish wedding vows.
The Amish Country Homestead is the only Amish house open for guided tours that has received designation as a Lancaster County Heritage Site, both for its authenticity in portraying Amish life today and for the interpretive information provided by its guides.
The Amish Wedding Feast (7:15 PM – 8:30 PM) As part of this exclusive, we’re kicking it up a notch and simulating an Amish Wedding Feast. So after the tour, it’s time to enjoy a specially prepared dinner based on some of the unique foods prepared only at Lancaster County Amish weddings. (These foods are not offered on the regular Plain & Fancy a la carte or individual family-style menu.) In a special area of the restaurant, the traditional Amish wedding “eck” tables will be set up for the bride and groom, and the others in the group will be seated as the attendants. Your Tour Guide/ Host will provide further insights into the Amish wedding, foods, and even Amish “honeymooning” as you dineon our award winning fare, including:
